Waxing/sugaring

Waxing/sugaring

(brow, lip and bikini)

Waxing and sugaring are two of the most commonly used hair removal techniques available. The two processes remove the hair from the follicle leaving the skin silky smooth. These two techniques however are quite different.

Waxing uses a heated wax that is applied attaching to hair and pulling the opposite direction of the follicle growth pattern popping the hair out of the follicle. We use two different wax types and each wax is specifically designed for sensitive skin. We use a hard wax on the more sensitive areas of the body like the bikini area and face. Hard wax is heated to a slightly lower temperature than our soft wax making it a much better option for those concerned about irritation from waxing. Soft wax is used for those larger body areas like legs where the skin is less sensitive achieving a much better result for those particular areas.

Waxing and sugaring are hair removal treatments that have been used for many years and are often listed together as hair removal techniques. However, they are very different processes.

Waxing uses a cloth or paper strip to remove your hair in the opposite direction of the follicle growth pattern. Sugaring to remove hair involves the hair being pulled in the natural direction of the follicle’s growth design. Sugaring is used at room temperature, and waxing is used at a high temperature.

Sugaring is quite different. Sugaring uses an all natural sugar paste to remove the hair in the natural direction of the follicle’s growth thus causing fewer ingrown hairs. It is also warmed at room temperature unlike waxing which is heated much higher, making it less irritating to the skin surface after the hair is removed. Often sugaring is quoted to be less painful than waxing. In our experience this is true if you were to rate each pull side by side however sugaring is a much more artistic technique that smooths the paste through the hair in order to attach and pull that hair from the root. This can feel more painful than the traditional waxing which is simply applied and pulled. The benefits of sugaring are that the hair regrowth isn’t as rapid and thick and it is much softer on the skin. We highly recommend sugaring for those sensitive skin types.

Sugaring is an organic and natural way of removing hair. Sugaring uses a sugar paste made with lemon juice and sugar. It is gentle on the skin and hurts much less than waxing. Sugaring pulls less on your skin while removing the hair from the follicle. This technique has less irritation and redness than waxing methods of hair removal. The way the sugaring is done also helps reduce pain. We can also put honey or essential oils in the sugar recipe if you would like.

Waxing is a very effective method for getting rid of unwanted body hair. It removes hair from the root by using a sticky substance, like wax, to adhere to body hair. Then, you remove this covering and pull the hair from the follicle in the opposite direction of the hair growth. New hair does not grow in the waxed area for about four to six weeks. You can use waxing on eyebrows, face, legs, arms, back, abdomen, public hair, chest, feet, and knuckles. Waxing leaves super-smooth results, but it can be painful.

Waxing/sugaring FAQ :

The method depends on hair thickness, body area, and length. For fine hair, you should use sugaring, and waxing is suggested for thick hair.

It depends on what results you want. Some clients feel sugaring gives you smoother results that last longer, and there is less redness. Skin that is sensitive to heat should use sugaring that is done at room temperature. Waxing needs to be warm and sticky, pulling hair from the follicle using wax-infused paper or cloth.
